GIS Begins the New Academic Year with Striking News!

{flike}

As part of the community service activities, GIS started collecting plastics in collaboration with PARLEY, a US NGO working for the Oceans and a Maldivian NGO, BEAM. The GIS family collected household plastics over the year 2016 which were taken abroad by the PARLEY group.

The striking news about the plastics collected by our students is that these plastics have been used to make football jerseys and trainer shoes. Adidas, the Global Brand and Bayern Munich Football Club gifted GIS a jersey signed by the players as a token of gratitude to acknowledge our contribution toward saving the oceans. In addition to this, the Senior Creative Shoot and Production Manager of Global Brand Marketing, Netherlands, Ms. Eleanor Fitzgerald has personally sent GIS a letter requesting to pass their sincere thanks to all the students of GIS for their contribution in helping them to make the shirts.
Today, we feel proud to become the pioneering school in collecting household plastics and working with both NGOs. GIS wishes to continue this great work and encourages all our students, parents and staff to keep on collecting household plastics so that this valuable work would contribute in saving the oceans of the world.
