One of the grandest events of this year was the Student Achievement Ceremony (SAAC) which was held on two nights: 18th August 2017 for the Juniors and 19th August 2017 for the Seniors respectively. The first night was graced by the former Foreign Minister, Ms. Dunya Maumoon and the second night by the Foreign Secretary, Mr. Ahmed Sareer. It was also an honour that First Lady, Madam Fathimath Ibrahim also attended this ceremony.

A total of 627 students were awarded during this year's ceremony. Similar to previous year, certificates, scrolls and wooden awards were distributed to students for their achievements under several categories.

One of the hallmarks of SAAC has always been the item performed by students to thank the parents and staff who always support and guide the students to accomplish their targets in order to attain such achievements. This year's item was a parody performed by a group of students selected from Gr. 3, 4 & 5 who were prepared by the staff of the school's student support department. Adding essence to the ceremony, the school choir gave an amazing live performance congratulating the award winners; the live music by a group of talented students assisted by the school Music teacher Ms. Rehana was an added flavour to the school choir.

The event, apart from being a striking one, has upheld the slogan 'Go Green' this year as well by using used papers for the decorations. GIS wishes to thank all those who contributed to this event in different ways; a special thanks to Sergeant First Class Madheeh Ahmed from the Band & Music Wing of MNDF who spent his valuable time to prepare the display for the event. All in all, GIS wishes to thank the school staff for the contribution given to make this event successful one; it was a synergized effort indeed!
