{flike}

GIS Fruit & Veg Programme ‘Glow & Grow with Fruits & Veggies’ was kicked off on Sunday, 4th February 2018. All students were delighted to see their teachers dressed as a fruit or a veggie when they walked into the school in the morning.

A speech was given during the assembly by Aishath Zaaya Shamih (8B), briefing about this year’s activities and reminded the objective of this program as well. She also shared that there would be various activities which would encourage GIS students to inculcate the habit of eating fruits and vegetables as part of their daily diet. These activities will be carried out across the year and will be conducted with the help of the teachers.
Apart from these activities, this year we are adding one important activity – monitoring the fruit & veg waste during the break times and will weigh the amount of fruit & veg waste. The objective of this activity is to reduce and avoid the amount of fruit and veg we waste after our meals.
To end the kick-off activity, there was a fruit and veggie parade conducted by teachers. They gave information about the benefits of fruits and veggies. During break and lunch time all students were given mandarin & cucumber which they enjoyed very much.
Since 2014, GIS has been running this Fruit & Veggie Programme to the whole school in the aim that all students and staff of GIS become examples of fruit & veg eaters,
and show that eating them gives nutritious benefits and keep us healthy and fit.
