Dark Light
The golden sun shone through the misty clouds; scattering its luminous rays onto the dark woods below. But the rays never quite reached the damp, swampy grass, as they were intercepted by the tall spruce trees that were towering above the ground. As a result, darkness had settled over the place. As the trees swayed in the wind, their shadows seemed to be alive, writhing across the ground.
Although darkness had claimed its place over the woods, its fingers curled around the trees, rays of light still managed to fight its way to dominance in the dark. The origin of these rays came from a small, but beautiful flowering plant. The light was being emitted from the plant’s single flower, which represented a brilliant gold Flame Lily. Its petals glowing with a shining light that fed the lesser, wilting saplings that were gathered all around it, almost as if begging for the essential light that the plant generously gave them.
The plant was immortal; ever-living, so it would never stop giving off its light and helping the saplings grow.
But even then, quite literally, darkness loomed around the corner. The so-called Shadow Creatures prowled at the dead of night, their bodies resembled that of a wolf’s, disregarding the creature’s slick black fur that was torn and ripped; two vicious crimson eyes that illumined in the absence of light.
They searched every nook and cranny in the woods, hoping to find an innocent soul to devour, or more importantly, the Golden Flame Lily.
You certainly have an eye for vivid description.
