Volunteering: A Teenager’s View
Do you want to make a difference in your community? Are you a fan of volunteering at activities? If so, then you probably feel that all young people should do some voluntary work as a means to improve their community. While this may seem burdensome for some people, young people carrying out community service is something I strongly support, as it is a blessing in disguise.
To begin with, doing some form of unpaid work allows our youth to give back to community in a constructive manner. I mean, let’s be honest: haven’t we all received help from our community whenever we needed it? Whether it’s our parents, teachers, friends, neighbours or even the old librarian, members of our community have all contributed in a big way to our personal and social development, often at little to no cost. As such, thanking them is our moral responsibility, and what better way to do so than by improving their lives here? Unpaid work also helps teens gain admission to famed academic institutions later on, as such work tends to carry extra credit, thereby furthering their academics as well.
Carrying out voluntary work also helps inculcate certain life skills in young people that are vital to the workplace. Indeed, working to serve the community is best done as a group, so young people end up learning to work well with others as a team. Moreover, handling unpaid work for the community involves taking initiative, as community service can only be properly done when young people take it upon themselves to serve the community, which improves their leadership skills as well. Working for the community even helps make young people more aware of their society’s problems by having them actively involved, thereby killing two birds with one stone.
In a nutshell, I am of the view that taking up unpaid work for the community is a fantastic idea, as it allows our youth to fulfill their moral duties while developing as individuals. As such, I strongly urge all young people to start doing such work, even if it’s free car washes, as the benefits are too big to ignore.
Your article is quite motivating and I believe we should be committed to the community we belong.
An eye catching introductory line as well as a well put together conclusion. Definitely sparked different ideas in my mind, thank you for the great writing and points.
