GIS Under 12 teams: boys and girls took away the Champion titles of the 19th Inter-school Basketball tournament held from 10th to 26th April 2017 at Youth Centre Indoor.

Both teams have shown great sportsmanship during the matches they played and it was euphoric moments for GIS that the teams took the Champion titles without getting defeated by any other school even from the group matches they played.

The Under 14 girls' team also have shown great improvements this year by playing in the semi-finals though they were defeated by Imaduddin School. The U14 girls also won all the group matches and went to semi-finals this year.

During the closing ceremony held on 26th April 2017, the Champions were recognised and were awarded with Champion trophies. Also, two players from our Under 14 girls' team: Ain Ali Rasheed (Class 9A) & Zuha Zaidhul Khaleel (Class 7B) were selected for the Under 14 girls' 'Dream Team' of Basketball Association of Maldives.

GIS wishes to appreciate the hard work of our coach Mr. Moosa Ali and thank him wholeheartedly. Also we wish to acknowledge the guidance given by the Assistant Coach Mr. Ahmed Shahid. At the same time, GIS wishes to thank David Basketball Club for providing the coaches to train our teams. The parents of these teams deserve special gratitude as they have been a great and vibrant group of parents who have supported the teams immensely.
