GIS HOSTS WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP IN THE MALDIVES!

GIS is proud to have hosted the first ever Scholar's Cup Regional Round in the Maldives. With students from 4 international Schools, the Maldives Round of the WSC was held in GIS from the 26th to 27th April.
The two day competition was presented by three members from the World Scholar's Cup Team, Mr. Joseph Harr, Mr. Vishal Verma and Mr. Thishin Moodley.
A total of 80 students from the four school, Billabong High International School, Ahmadiyya International School, Villa International High School and Ghiyasuddin International School competed in the 4 activities: Debate, Scholar's Challenge, Collaborative Writing and Scholar's Bowl.
The scholar's gained a lot of knowledge and made new friends through the fun filled programme.
Each student went home with a fluffy alpaca (the official mascot of the WSC) and majority of the students with medals and trophies and the good news of being qualified for the Global Round.
8 junior teams and 2 Senior teams participated form GIS and won 88 Gold medals, 100 silver medals and 11 trophies.
