GIS HOSTS WORLD SCHOLAR'S CUP IN THE MALDIVES FOR THE SECOND TIME!

The resonating cheers “Ghiyasuddin”, “Ghiyasuddin”, “Ghiyasuddin”, and thunderous applause filled the school hall as the scholars of GIS proudly ascended the stage to be bestowed with trophies and gold and silver medals.

Once again GIS is honoured to have hosted the Regional Round in the Maldives. With students from 5 international Schools, the Maldives Round of the WSC was held in GIS from the 25th to 26th April.

The two-day competition was presented by three members from the World Scholar's Cup Team, the founder and alpaca-in-chief - Daniel Berdichevsky, Dylan Kroft and Patrick Henry.

A total of 201 students from five schools, Billabong High International School, Ahmadhiyya International School, Villa International High School, Gateway International School and Ghiyasuddin International School competed in all the 4 activities: Debate, Scholar's Challenge, Collaborative Writing and Scholar's Bowl.

The scholars left the corridors of GIS hugging their alpacas -the official mascot of the WSC and acquiring information on various topics such as the duties of ambassadors, diplomats and the role of teenagers as future leaders of the country. Besides gaining a lot of knowledge they also made new friends through the fun filled programme.

48 students participated from GIS and won 114 Gold medals, 122 silver medals and 27 trophies and the good news is GIS has made it to the Global Round.
