Family Day for Grade One

{flike}

Saturday, 11th March 2017 was a joyful evening for all the Grade Ones as they became a part of one of the most enjoyable events organised for their parents, grand parents, guardians and siblings – their Family Day.

Every year, GIS holds this event in the aim of fostering partnership so that both the parents and the school can maximise the child-centric environment for their learning. When parents get involved in school activities and events along with their kids, it helps them to enjoy their learning and also develop healthy behaviours.

This year's event was quite different than the previous ones. As parents came into the school they were welcomed by their kids through a song which described their love and caring for their parents. Parents were assigned to perform skits and dances which they had to prepare on the spot. All three classes of Grade One had two groups of parents along with their kids. The performances were amazing and hilarious. After these performances was the grand activity of the event – the 'Scavenger Hunt'. Parents were given 7 tasks to complete outside and inside the school along with at least 2 to 3 families. They also shared pictures of the tasks as and when they did them. At the end of the day, all parents enjoyed a moment of togetherness in the hall over tea and watched a slide presentation of the tasks they completed. Finally, parents were given a small token – a hand print of their kids done separately to show how much they care for their parents. Tea and token were followed with a family picture snapped at the photo stand made specially for this event.

GIS wishes to thank the teachers of Grade One along with the Grade Accor Ms. Shereen for being organised and so dedicated. Teachers of Grade 2 & 3 also helped around to make the event a success. Also almost all the parents found the event a success and thanked the school for organising such an event as it was a platform for all to join hands and stand as one big family – the GIS Family.
