GIS teams return from Yale with huge success!

The delegation of Ghiyasuddin International School  had a tremendously successful Tournament of Champions in the World Scholar’s Cup 2018.

Our delegation - consisting of three teams – accompanied by our principal, 2 parents and two teachers, traveled all the way to the prestigious Yale University. They made GIS proud by winning 47 Gold medals, 13 silver medals, Team 473 (Shaina Mohamed Shainee, Sulaf Moosa Latheef and Ali Rashwan) achieved 4thplace in the South Asian Division and, 42nd place in the overall competition. Ali Rashwan Mohamed was awarded Top Achiever from the Maldives. From the Scavenge Hunt to the Scholar’s Bowl, our students did remarkably well and apart from getting a wonderful academic experience, they were able to bond with students all over the world.

The  delegation returned to Male' on the 25th of November and  was warmly received by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Education, Mr. Mohamed Saeed at the airport and on the 26th of November, the  Education Minister, Dr. Aishath Ali and had a meeting with the teams where she inquired about the students’ experiences. Overall, our students  made us immensely proud and we applaud their achievements and hope they will prosper in the future.
