Counselling Referral
One-on-one counselling sessions with students to address issues such as academic challenges, interpersonal issues, behavioral issues, and emotional difficulties. Parents may also be asked to join in the session depending on the issues presented.
- Students will generally attend one session per week for a duration of 30 to 45 minutes.
- Students may be offered a maximum of 2 sessions per week depending on their needs.
- Sessions will be held during the normal school session hours (7:30am to 3:30pm).
Support services.
Counsellors work with teachers and the student support center to develop classroom management strategies and provide support to staff where appropriate.
Confidentiality
Everything discussed in the sessions are generally kept confidential (i.e., not shared with anyone else). The exception to this is when there is a risk of harm to the student or anyone else. In this case, the counsellor will share necessary information with the relevant parties. Counselling records may be shared with the clinical supervisor of the counsellor to ensure the quality of the service; however, the anonymity of the student will be maintained, i.e., no names will be disclosed.
