GIS Fruit & Veg Program - Glow & Grow with Fruits & Veggies

On 19th May 2014, GIS kicked off the fruit & veg program ‘Glow & Grow with Fruits & Veggies’ with all the staff of the school wearing a fruit or a vegetable dress or a prop in order to receive the students early in the morning. This was an attractive event which was acknowledged by all students and parents of the school. All students loved the kick-off activity and hence most promised to use fruits and veggies in their diets then and there.

All students were also attracted by the fruit & veg parade performed by the students of the school environment club ‘Fashala’ along with the school band. Under this program there are various activities which would encourage GIS students to inculcate the habit of eating fruits and vegs as part of their diets. These activities will be stretched across the year and conducted with the help of the students of ‘Fashala’ club.

The next activity under this program will be organised and conducted before the first term ends. GIS wish all students and staff would become examples of fruit & veg eaters.

Let’s grow & eat!

- Fashala reps grow a fruit & veg garden and help maintain it

- This will provide hands-on nutrition education, offering students a dynamic learning environment

- The gardens can come in a variety of sizes (Eg: pots, beds, small plot)

throughout the year

Fresh from the garden

- Fashala reps along with school management can work with a farm in an island where the farm sells fruits and veggies to us at a cheaper price
