firefightingA two and half hour awareness session on the topic ‘Fire Fighting’ was conducted for the staff who joined GIS this year on Thursday, 5th March 2015.

Under the aim of ensuring that  every staff is equipped with sufficient knowledge and skill in order to be prepared to face any unforeseen disaster especially something like an unforeseen fire spread, GIS holds the session on ‘Fire Fighting’ every year.

This year’s session attended by 20 staff was conducted by Mr. Irushan Ahmed from Global Fire Service Pvt. Ltd. The staff were also taught how to hold a fire blanket, walk towards a fire and to stop the fire using the blanket. In addition to this, how to handle a  fire extinguisher was also taught and later each staff was asked to perform how to handle both the fire blanket and the extinguisher.

GIS thank the Key Activity Coordinators for arranging the session for the staff. We also wish to express our gratitude to Mr. Irushan Ahmed.
