On 20th April 2015, an ‘Occupation Day’ was organised by the Grade One parents in collaboration with some of the Grade Two parents and teachers of Grade One to provide practical experience for kids to learn about people of different professions, the work they do and the objects they use. During Environmental Science periods, the students have been learning about occupations and this event has given our kids a splendid experience.

This was also a great way to introduce kids to new words and terminologies related to various jobs and occupations and help expand their vocabulary, thus enhancing to develop their language skills. Apart from language skills, the kids were given opportunity to reflect upon the sound values one must instill in him or her. From occupations such as giving medical treatment to people, kids instill values such as tolerance and caring for others. On the other hand, occupations such as Police Service motivates the kids to become part of the community by learning about traffic rules and ways to keep order in the country.
About ten stalls were set up in the hall displaying the various professions such as doctors, nurses, pilots, chefs, beauticians, sports personnels, law and enforcement, fire fighters etc. The Grade Ones enjoyed the event and interacted with the people from different professions by asking various questions to clear their doubts.
