Today, 1st June 2015 is a memorable day for GIS as we mark the Global Day of Parents for the very first time with a grand event attended by all the parents of the school. Preparations for this event began last week where students prepared their thoughts toward their parents in order to appreciate their work for guiding them to shape their lives and standing by them through thick and thin.
Marking a special day for the parents is remarkable as it gives the opportunity for our students to think about their parents and show them how much they honour their commitments. In addition, to understand and become sensitive toward the emotions of their parents, students got actively engaged in preparing a small snack for their parents. This happened during the school hours and without the knowledge of the parents who were requested to attend a small gathering at school just half an hour before the school session ended. During the gathering, students handed the words of thoughts which they prepared in heart-shaped design and decorated  with multi-colours showing their love for their parents.
Parents should be admired and loved by their children; GIS works to instill the value of appreciation in our students in order to teach them the benefit of happy living. Hence, to add an essence of love and gesture of appreciation, the school singing team dedicated a song to all the parents of GIS. The lyrics of this song was prepared by our former School Captain Anoof Ahmed and the music was remixed by Aishath Shaffa Jaleel (9A).
One of the most amazing moments was the display arranged in the school foyer which was filled with expressions prepared by each parent describing how special their children were to them and reminding GIS is one family with many thoughts. This was a surprise for all the students as they did not know their parents were ready to return the favours with love and great care.
GIS wishes to thank all students and staff for working cooperatively to mark the Global Day of Parents so colourfully. In addition to this, GIS also extends gratitude to MIFCO and Olive Garden for the generous sponsor given to make this event a success
