The combination of students and tech-equipments has been an unfriendly talk in schools for years; however, GIS is going to introduce the next revolution in technology inside classrooms by encouraging students to use tech-equipments in lessons, in an approach dubbed bring your own device (BYOD).

Before introducing BYOD to students, 15 teachers across the grades were trained on why technology is used in teaching; to be precise, why BYOD and how to use them in learning. This training session held from 21st to 23rd July 2015 was facilitated by Mr. Ai Shameem a local Educationist residing in Jordan who is also the Director of Educational Technology at King’s Academy, Jordan. During these sessions, teachers were also guided on video and audio content creation tools which are add-ons to their teaching.

Once the policy to implement BYOD to students of Grades 5 and above is in place next year, the school will be monitoring how well the devices are used and also would educate students on e-safety. Though BYOD will be in place next year, two classes will be doing a pilot project on BYOD this year.
