14 students from Grade 9 went on an exposure trip to Delhi during the second term mid break. The students were accompanied by Deputy Principal Ms. Shirmeena and Literature HOD, Ms. Nishan. Students left Maldives on the 28th of August 2015 and returned on the 5th of September 2015.

Delhi exposure trip has always been an adventure for our students as it is an eye-opener to the fascinating Indian culture and traditions. However, it is not possible to learn all about India within a few days of time yet the trip has provided a glance of Indian heritage, especially the Taj Mahal. Our students also exchanged learning through the school visits they have had during the week which encouraged the students to value different methods of learning and other trends of lifestyle.

GIS students presented two presentations, one about Maldives in general and the other about how the changing climate affects Maldives. The latter one was presented in much detail as it was part of the ‘Mad about Environment’ project the Shriram schools are working on this year. Hence, it was a great opportunity for our students to be part of this project. Apart from this, the students exchanged information about tradition of both countries through a stage item in which GIS students presented Maldivian traditional dance, ‘Boduberu’ also showcasing the changes in the National dresses worn by Maldivians.

The students came back after a week’s adventure and with fond memories of the new things they have learned throughout the trip. This is the 4th year that GIS has been sending students to Delhi as part of providing learning beyond the classroom.
