ABE fair - a Synergized work by grade 8 and 9 was carried out in the form of a project work on 11th April 2016, in the school hall from 13:30 hours to 17:30 hours and was open for all grades. The preparation of the project work was initiated well in advance, right after the guidelines were handed over to the students. All the students were highly excited and interested to work on the project.

The students were assigned to form groups and to decide on different items and stalls to set up in the fair, as the project work was to take place in the form of a fair. It was a healthy competition between the grade 8 and 9 students to make the maximum amount of profits. The outlines and blueprints of the distribution of space in the hall were designed and made ready by the senior students of grade 9 one day prior to the fair. It was distributed accordingly and equally to both grades after being approved by the business department. Moreover, the list of items and stalls were handed over to the department at least 3 days ahead.

The aim of holding this project was to give our students firsthand experience on marketing skills, advertising, promotion, Specialization, division of labour, Economies of scale, Demand and supply theory, Balance sheet- profit and loss, Monopoly and competition, Cost benefit analysis and Opportunity cost

The students came up with an ice-cream and lollies stall, sand art stall, food stall (cookies, cupcakes, pizzas, panino, chocolate ball etc.) games stalls, hover board stall, ‘Just dance’ corner and also handicraft stalls (flower crowns, bracelets, book marks, bangles, key chains, dream catchers etc). They did a splendid job and proved that each and every student is capable by putting in their maximum effort into making this fair a success.

They made a profit of MRF. 28,066 from this fair. The students and parents enjoyed themselves at the fair. The money collected from the ABE fair will be donated for community service.

It was a great job done by all the students. Our students have once again proved that these young entrepreneurs can top the Maldivian market in the coming future.
