It is a prime responsibility for GIS to look into students' health benefits because we know that their minds need healthy food to support their learning and growth.

In this regard, the school canteen was refurbished and opened officially to promote and support healthy eating behaviours for the students. The new cafeteria of GIS was opened on 8th August 2016 by Mr. Ahmed Shafeeu, the State Minister of MoE during a special assembly. At this assembly, a special guest Dr. Abdulla Nazeem addressed the students and staff on the importance of eating healthy fruits and vegetables.
The new cafeteria catered by Buruzu Catering was opened with lot of changes which include healthy meal packages for the students and staff at affordable rates. The rates at which meal packages and other food items offered have been shared and discussed with the PTA Exco members. This information has been uploaded to the parent web portal for parents' reference.
GIS wishes to thank all those who spared their valuable time to attend this event. Especially, the State Minister of MoE, Mr. Ahmed Shafeeu for gracing the event and Dr. Abdulla Nazeem for the valuable information shared. Also PTA Exco members for being there to support such events.
