WSC - TAKING OFF TO KUALA LAMPUR FOR THE GLOBAL ROUND

{flike}

15 students of GIS left to Malaysia on 16th June to participate in the Global round of the World Scholar’s Cup 2018.   The competition will be held from June 18 to June 23 in Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, which is at the very center of one of the world's most cosmopolitan cities.

Like the previous year, this year too GIS hosted the Regional Round of the WSC in the Maldives last April with four other International Schools joining in. The students who qualify in the Regional Round get to participate in the Global Round.  Five top Teams from the junior division will be accompanied by  the Deputy principal Ms. Ahmeema Abdulgafoor, their coach Ms. Saroj Wilson, HOD English and two parents.

The Globals are to be held in three countries in three different continents. GIS chose to travel to Malaysia which is officially the largest round in the 11 year history of the World Scholars Cup: with over 3550 participants from 36 countries.

Before the students departed, Principal Mr. Thoha Saleem met all the students and advised them on various matters:  learning to tolerate one another and respect the culture and tradition of other countries. The Principal recalled the Seven habits of Highly Effective People and asked the students to put first things first. He advised them to take care of their health, emphasising that only if one has sound body he can perform any task better. He also made the students realize that their exposure to new experiences and learning are more valuable than the awards and he wished them a successful trip.

The WSC team will be returning on the 24th of June. We wish them the very best.
