Ist of Rabi -ul- Awwal is celebrated as the National Day of the Maldives. As the day falls on Saturday, 16th of September this year, GIS held the celebrations on 14th September Thursday, with students and staff in their national dresses and in national colours.

Students performed a play and made a presentation about the journey and altruism of our National heroes, Mohamed Thakurufaanu and his brothers, whose wisdom, courage and tact saved the people and the nation from Portugese occupation.

Within the festivities, students learnt about the spirit of nationalism, appreciating the martyrdom of our heroes and their selfless sacrifice to our beloved nation
