GIS Fruit & Veg Program ‘Glow & Grow with Fruits & Veggies’ was kicked off on 22nd February 2015. To welcome the students the staff were dressed up as fruits and vegetables; this attractive moment was acknowledged by all students and parents of the school. All students loved the kick-off activity and the program was well received by them.

At the school assembly, a speech was given by the Science Club President, Aishath Maviya Mohamed (9A). She gave a briefing about this year’s activities and shared the objectives of this program. She shared that for students, there would be various activities stretched across the year to inculcate the habit of eating fruits and vegetables as part of their daily diet. These activities will be conducted with the help of the representatives of ‘Science’ Club.

In addition to Maviya’s speech, Dr Madheeh Mohamed Hussain came to school as a guest speaker and addressed the students at the assembly, explaining the benefits of including different fruits and vegetables in our diet. He also talked about fruits and vegetables that could be taken to avoid common sickness.

To end the kick-off activity, all teachers distributed different fruits to students which they shared during the break times.
