Professional Development Session (PD) on Positive Learning Environment
A PD session on the importance of positive learning environment was held for the teachers of Grades 1, 3, 4 & 5 today. This session participated by a total of 43 teachers was facilitated by our Special Education Consultant Ms. Fathimath Zameel. One of the objectives of holding such a session for the teachers is to refresh their knowledge on best practices of inclusive education. Ms. Fathun conducted the session in such a way that it helped teachers to share what is being done in their classrooms at present and what should be done in order to create a positive learning environment for students with different abilities. The one and half session ended with group presentations.
GIS Discovers Fitness with Mr. Zinan: Health & Fitness Programme
In the month of February, GIS started an awareness programme, educating the students on health and fitness under the theme 'A Fit Body Means a Fit Mind'. This theme is also incorporated in different subjects taught in different grades. The programme is conducted by Mr. Hussain Zinan, the CEO & Head Trainer of Total Fitness Group Pvt. Ltd. who is also the Head Lecturer of International Personal Trainers & Fitness Academy.
Special Assembly to mark the inauguration of Introducing Chess into Grades 1 – 5 curriculum
Ghiyasuddin proudly inaugurates the extremely complex and well-structured programme 'Chess' and have found the way to integrate Chess into the curriculum, as the first school to do this in Maldives. This programme will be an exceptional learning tool to connect with the fundamental subject Mathematics. The prime aims in teaching Chess through the curriculum are to develop students' logical thinking, enhance concentration levels, and facilitate numeracy and reading comprehension.
