Held on Thursday the 12th of June 2014, the Biology and Physics camp was, if not the most well organized and enjoyable, the most enthusiastically crafted session that was aimed at the future sitters of the O level exams (as one of the experienced guests put it) on how to “tackle” this very important milestone of their lives. The event was mainly conducted in the AV room. This camp was the brainchild and endless effort of Mr. Prasad and Mrs. Persis. Click here to view the full report

Training program on traffic controlling and traffic safety

A training program on traffic controlling and traffic safety was held for the members of the student council board on 16th & 17th July 2014. This workshop was organized by the school under the coordination of our Counsellor Mr. Rilwan and conducted in collaboration with the Maldives Police Services.

The prime purpose of conducting such a program is to provide the students the practical experience in traffic controlling since they will be physically taking part in traffic controlling near the GIS with the guidance of traffic police. The program was successfully completed by 20 members of the student council.

GIS wish to thank Maldives Police Services for taking interest in conducting this program for the students. We also wish to make the most out of this training when the school reopens after the Eid Holidays.

Introducing Mr. Fruito & Ms. Veggie

Introducing Mr. Fruito & Ms. Veggie

Under our fruit & veg program ‘Glow & Grow with Fruits & Veggies’, a second activity - Mr. Fruito and Ms. Veggie was carried out today, 25th June 2014. This is an activity which gives a lot of nutritional information on a monthly basis.

This activity started today, with a presentation for the students based on the ‘Health benefits of fruits and vegetables’ and the ‘Power of colour variety of fruits and vegetables’. The presentation was given by our school nurse Ms. Jannath Zuhair. Following the presentation, students were engaged in completing a Quiz Paper.

After the presentation, Mr. Melon and Ms. Cucumber - the fruit and vegetable for the month of June and July were also introduced. The major aim of introducing this is to aware the students that there are fruits and vegetables available locally which are beneficial for our health.
The school will also be monitoring how much melon and cucumber are used in our students’ daily diet during the month of June and July and then a fruit and veg ‘census’ will be done monthly.

The activity ended in a small gathering where teachers provided their students with watermelon and enjoyed the mellow bites.

GIS is a co-educational school catering to children between the ages of 6 and 16 years.
Our preparatory year as an international school began on a good note with a number of promising students and dedicated staff.
